I must say Open Cork is my favourite place in the city. Sure I've been to very high end restaurant, and the food is amazing.... at $45 per plate. But as far as combining everything that I look for in one place Open Cork rules

- cozy patio where they don't look at you like a criminal for lighting a smoke
- very tasty, high quality and inexpensive food
- great drinks, with well-priced pitchers, and wine they fill up to the top of the glass
- fun atmosphere in teh bar and patio, a great place to hang out with friends
- well decorated and classy restaurant I have brought clients to, with very cordial service
- great owner/management team. Peter and Mark are veterans in the business. They know what their clientelle wants and cater directly to them.
- Great girls, fun, friendly and attractive (I am a girl myself, so its not just a guy's opinion)

To some of the reviewers who had experienced bad service I have a few comments to make
- I have noticed that the type of attitude people bring in there, is very much what they get out of the experience. I had a friend who always finds something to complain about regarding every situation in life, and yes the same server who was nice to me, was rude and ignoring to her. But that's because she was a total B.i.t... you get the point to the server. The patio is always very busy and the girls are running around like crazy all night. Don't expect white glove service you wuld get at North 44 or One.... but then again you didnt come here for that.
- This is a European establishment. In 7 years of my patronage I have rarely seen non-Europeans there. The service is European style, not the excessively polite, let me lick your behind for tips kind of service. 99% of patrons don't mind it.... we're used to much worse!

Oh and definitely not a FAMILY joint.... but it's better off that way. Us non-family people need a stroller-free place to call our own too.

I started going to Open Cork when it first opened up. I still go there regularly (like last night). Open Cork is an establishment that caters to a select clientele. It resembles some of the places on College Street. Instead of taking a long drive into the city, many local clients go here. Open Cork is lucky since there is no other real competition around the area. This has allowed them to slack off a bit in the last several years. Open Cork has its high and low points and they vary for what type of individual you are. It matters whether you sit in the bar, patio, or restaurant. Also, the service depends on how you dress and the age group you are with. Dont get me wrong, the service is bad overall. There might be one or two good servers, but they usually dont stay at Open Cork for a long time. Open Cork is not a FAMILY restaurant. I do not think you should be bringing young children to an establishment that sells alcohol, or on a smoky patio. Plus the talk of the main clientele is not child appropriate.

The food at Open Cork is hit or miss. However, usually it is a good place to get an affordable drink and bite. Their pitcher of Stella Artois for $14.99 (now $15.99) is one of the best prices in the GTA. Also, you can get decently prices sandwiches ($7-10) and pastas ($11-15). You can see how they have cut back on the quality of the food in the last couple of years (ie. the fries). The dcor and ambiance in the restaurant is very nice. The patio and bar can be loud at times. However, its a good place to get together with friends for a late-night drink. The servers are horrible and sometimes its obvious they have had a little to drink during their shift. Remember, youre tipping for the service, not the food.

This is by far the best joint in Toronto. Lots of singles and fun hot spot.

As a regular (twice a week) customer for the past few years, i am still often appalled at the rude & inadequate service of some of the staff here. I stopped in last night for a few pints at the bar (empty since the smoking ban has been imposed), and the bartender treated me as though I was some sort of huge inconvenience. There was no Good evening Sir, what can I get you, just a rather rude nod & a rolling of the eyes when I ordered my beverage. Don't these people know that their tips are based on polite & courteous service? I finished my drink & was out the door & I think she was glad to see me leave so she could go on smoke break. Maybe the hiring staff should actually start looking at their credentials & interviewing the applicants, rather than just hiring them based on their appearance.

I would rate the service being good , but the food poor would not recomend
being our first time there.

Up until today I thought that this was a decent place to go to but I've changed my mind because of the rude attitude the management and wait staff have. My friends and I simply wanted an afternoon non-alcoholic beverage and were told that because it was non-alcoholic we would have to pay $5 for it. They agreed but because I wa in a rush I said that I would not have anything and that I would be leaving in 5min. The waitress said that was ok. When she returned with their $15 three glasses of juice she had a message for me from the manager which was that if I was going to sit there for 5min that I would have to pay $5. The place was empty and I was not taking up valuable space from other patrons who were waiting in line. I think this is insane because I have spent hundreds of dollars there and was just in passing today. My patronage was obviously not appreciated. I did not argue but rather just left. I will definitely NOT be returning simply because of the lack of pleasant customer service. I felt like I was being punished because we did not want to drink alcohol and opted out for non-alcohol. EXTRMELY RUDE! Do not go if you're not interesed in drinking in alcohol.

My family, friends and I have been going to The Open Cork for about 5 years and we celebrate every birthday. The food is incredible and the atmosphere very serene and romantic. I highly recommend the Valentine's Day Dinner Menue and the patio is a great place for a nice drink in the summer! Give it a try sometime! EA, Mississauga

This is a good place to eat. Well prepared Italian dishes. Nice ambieance, great bar area, huge wine selection, clean, good for families. Not too big a place and not too small. Separate enclosed smoking area.
